The 2010-2011 Leadership

Welcome back to school, veterans! As some of you may already know, there is new club leadership for the 2010-2011 school year. Our former leader, the auspicious Don Gomez, is heading to graduate school in London (forgotten the sacrifices of the Revolution War already, have we?). Let's wish him the best of luck!

Below: Don GomezDon Gomez is a US Army Veteran, Colin Powell Fellow, the CCVA's First
President, and a fabulous interior decorator, whatever that's supposed to imply.

The man with an abundance of competence, the always ready Aubrey Arcangel, is still with us at school, but has stepped down from his leadership roll. But when he graduates we'll be ready to honor him by arbitrarily naming some undistinguished item (located in the OVA) after him.

Aubrey Arcangel is a US Army Veteran,
and is a bit of a handsome devil if you ask me.

But we have new, exciting leadership for the 2010-2011 school year. As Plato might have pointed out, democracy can be deeply flawed, but none-the-less, our veterans have spoken and named Brad Meetze McNamara to be our new President, Darin L. Rummel our Vice President, Joey Knapp our Secretary, and Pablo Leon as our new Treasurer.

Brad Meetze McNamara, the CCVA President, is a proud American, combat soldier, and more importantly a City College student. Brad is originally from the New York metro/Long Island area, and has an identical twin brother. He is a transfer student from Oswego State SUNY where he played lacrosse and volleyball. At CCNY, he studied Fine Arts and was a double major in Studio Art and Art Education when he witnessed the terrorists attacks at the WTC. His decision to delay his education and enlist defines Brad as a patriotic American who values citizenship and community pride. His military service with the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division, 3/325 Airborne Infantry Regiment and 2/508th Parachute Infantry Regiment as an 11Bravo (Infantry Paratrooper), Non Commissioned Officer reflects his selfless service and personal values. He is looking forward to finishing the 2011 academic year and teaching art within the New York City area as well as coaching wrestling, lacrosse and/or volleyball. He has been actively involved with the CCVA since the Spring of 2010.

Darin L. Rummel, the CCVA Vice President, is a sophomore studying Creative Writing at CCNY. He served four years in the US Army as a Counterintelligence Special Agent, serving time in Korea, Kuwait, and North Carolina. He enjoys comedy, football, NPR, and does not negotiate with terrorists.

Joey Knapp, the CCVA Secretary, is a sophomore working towards a BS in computer Science. He served in the US Army as a tank mechanic for a little over three years doing random tasks, few of which having anything to do with M1 Abrams tanks and their repair. Joey is 24 years old, he likes to watch movies and play board games. His favorite color is green.

Pablo Leon, the CCVA Treasurer,
is an Electrical Engineering major who will graduate in the Fall of 2011. His military background includes time served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Pablo was in the Marines for 5 years and maintained combat jets. His hobbies and interests include cars, bikes, working on random projects and playing pool.

Welcome to the City College Veterans Association blog!

Hi all,

I'm not that very good with websites, but I know a little bit about putting a blog together. This will serve as the digital home for the City College Veterans Association until one of our kick-ass web people (do we have one) steps up and volunteers to develop a website. In the mean time, here is what we have.

To the right, are the five most recent emails that have gone out to the list. Clicking on one will bring you to the Google Group where you can read more. Underneath that are our immediate three upcoming events. You can click the link to get to our calendar for more information as well.

You will also see other things on this site as we continue to develop it, like pictures, video, and posts from members of the club.

If you have any ideas on how to improve the site, please let me know.

See you soon!
