CCVA Honors the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The City College Veterans Association had the honor of laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier on the 29th of June. The ceremony conveyed the camaraderie between the veterans within the Association and the connection that student veterans have to military service as a whole. The Friday beforehand was also filled with nostalgia as the CCVA visited the infamous Marine Corps Barracks at "8th and I" in Washington D.C. The Barracks is the oldest active post in the Marine Corps. It was founded by President Thomas Jefferson and Lt. Col. William Burrows, the third commandant of the Marine Corps, in 1801. The evening was spent at the nearby NCO club where we celebrated the retirement of Marine MSG William Dixon. In attendance was the first female Sergeant Major of the Barracks , Sgt. Maj. Angela M. Maness. A Special thanks to 1SG Ernest Diaz and Maxim Semyonov for coordinating such a great weekend.
